NOW LIVE at Wakefield Museum & Great North Museum: Hancock, Newcastle!
Co-creation and gamification as a gateway to educating (& entertaining) teen visitors
Podego Play is a game-based learning app built by teens for teens. It is a digital scavenger hunt with a LIVE leaderboard.
Built for ages 11–15, this immersive experience makes learning social, competitive, and exploratory — giving young visitors a real sense of belonging and discovery.
“Really good!! I had fun playing it (and also making it)”
Why youth love it

What museum educators say
"They have chosen 10 fantastic objects that we might have not chosen as adults. So it’s been fantastic that we got teens choosing all this stuff."
— Louise Bragan, Senior Program Officer at Wakefield Museums & Castles
"What's been brilliant is the co-creation. We're working with Podego to bring the app to life, and with Newcastle Young Inspectors — a group of young people who looked at our objects and shaped the gameplay around what really appeals to them and their friends."
— Kate Holden, Senior Learning Officer at Great North Museum; Hancock
OUR APPROACH
How to co-create with the audience you want to reach
1. Co-curate with youth
Involve young people from the very beginning by hosting focus group discussions at your institution to map out the stories and objects that intrigue them. We'll guide you through the process every step of the way — empowering youth to build characters, craft the game narrative, and connect every object into one trail.
2. Prototype
Choose from the characters and narration created by teens, then write scripts and produce audio, all within our admin system (CMS). Record the audio yourself, or use our built-in tool right inside the CMS.
3. Playtest & refine
Teens will test the experience before launch, so it lands the way it should. Your first quest comes with full Podego guidance. After launch, the experience is yours to extend, refresh, or reimagine whenever you like.
